Interior designer Linda Bower selected Amazon (HW3639) from the Venture Plank collection for the complete renovation of her 8th Avenue apartment in Brooklyn. The character grade oak plank is the Hero color of Havwoods’ Blonde color group, bringing light, warmth and natural variation to the home's long, narrow layout while complementing its darker timber cabinetry and natural material palette.
Natural materials shape a warm Brooklyn home
For the complete renovation of her Brooklyn apartment, interior designer Linda Bower looked to natural materials to create a home centered around warmth, comfort and everyday functionality. Wood plays a defining role throughout the interior, with Havwoods’ Amazon (HW3639) providing a light, characterful foundation that connects the apartment from room to room.
The Hero of our Blonde Color group
A popular choice from the Venture Plank collection, Amazon is the Hero color of our Blonde color group. Its light, natural coloring brings warmth to the apartment without overwhelming the narrow floor plan, while helping reflect natural light through the different spaces.
The character grade celebrates the individuality of the oak, with knots, grain movement and tonal variation giving each plank its own identity. For Linda, embracing these natural characteristics was an important part of the design approach, allowing the material itself to bring texture and personality into the home.
Designed around the apartment
The proportions of Amazon (HW3639) were carefully considered for the apartment's long, narrow layout. Running the planks through the space creates a natural sense of flow, visually connecting the living, working and sleeping areas while complementing the clean architectural lines.
The blonde flooring also creates a considered contrast with the home's darker timber cabinetry and furniture. Together, these different wood tones produce a layered interior that feels warm and collected while maintaining a calm, understated palette.
